Season 9 Brings New Characters But Loses the Game's Clarity
Marvel Rivals just hit its ninth season after only a year and a half since launch, and on the surface, everything looks spectacular: a fresh Apocalypse narrative, perfect timing with X-Men '97 season two, and a new character called Jubilee who's literally throwing fireworks everywhere. Here's the problem though? Players can't actually see what's happening on screen.
These complaints aren't nostalgia talking — they're real frustration. The visual chaos in the new season has hit levels that make it genuinely difficult to follow the battle. When you've got ten characters on screen, each with different graphics, unique effects, and fireworks exploding everywhere — you just lose the thread. I've experienced this myself in other team-based games, and I know the difference between "lots of action" and "I literally cannot see my enemy to shoot them."
What bothers me most is that this isn't some weird technical glitch — it's a design choice. Jubilee herself is awesome as a character, and the concept is solid, but when you drop an update package that makes the game harder to read visually, you're hurting the core experience. This isn't something a player can just "get used to" — it directly damages competitive play.
I'm going to be straight with NetEase: don't sacrifice clarity for flashy details. Real players want to see the battlefield clearly, not get lost in a particle storm. If you're a Marvel Rivals fan and you want to actually enjoy Season 9, wait for the fixes — don't expect a smooth ride right now.
