The Classics Are Back — But the Price Might Not Be Worth It
Activision just dropped PS5 versions of Call of Duty: Black Ops and the sequel, and honestly? My take on them is pretty mixed. Both games are live in the store now, hitting you for $40 a pop — or just $20 if you're a PS Plus subscriber before August 6th.
Why Am I Disappointed With This?
Here's the thing, and it's pretty obvious: these aren't remakes or even real graphical upgrades. What you're getting is the original as-is, complete with all its old baggage. I jumped into the first one and immediately felt like I was playing a 2010 game — and not in that warm, nostalgic way, but in the "wow, these graphics and camera angles really show their age" kind of way.
What really got to me though is the DLC situation. If you're thinking you'll buy the game and get all the original content free, think again. The extra stuff costs extra money, which means the actual price tag on a single game could straight-up double if you want everything. There's no bundle for both games together either — if you actually want them both, you're paying twice.
Who Should Actually Get These?
I can't recommend them to players chasing a modern experience or enhanced graphics. Now, if you're someone who actually played these back in the day and want to relive those exact memories? Maybe it's worth it — but only at that PS Plus discount if you're subscribed. The full $40 for an old port with zero real updates honestly feels way too steep.
