Another Lara Croft Setback: From 2027 to 2028
The bad news snuck in quietly this time. No official statement, no press conference — just Amazon Games head Jeffrey Gattis casually dropping it while talking about Luna's cloud service: Tomb Raider: Catalyst is shifting from 2027 to 2028. So yeah, we're waiting on Lara Croft in silence, unfortunately.
A Chain of Delays That Started in December
This whole mess began last December when Amazon announced both massive Tomb Raider projects at The Game Awards. The original plan was crystal clear: release a remake of the first adventure, Legacy of Atlantis, in 2026, then follow up with Catalyst in 2027.
But then Crystal Dynamics (the dev studio) announced Legacy of Atlantis was being pushed to February 12, 2027 with zero explanation. What seemed like a minor delay turned into a full-blown domino effect: Catalyst got shoved back an entire year.
Why This Bothers Me
Honestly? It's not just the delay itself. The real problem is Amazon's trying to juggle two massive projects at once, and it's obvious both are suffering. It's an ambitious plan, but it's missing serious coordination. At Least the Lead is Locked In
One thing that's stayed consistent, thankfully: actress Alix Wilton Regan will play Lara Croft in both games. That's solid continuity, but it doesn't make up for a completely unclear roadmap.
